About the Opportunity

The University of Sydney recently appointed Professor Cameron Turtle as the CLEARbridge Chair in Cancer Immunotherapy. Professor Turtle recently returned to Australia from Seattle where he led clinical and laboratory research teams conducting several investigator-initiated Phase 1 clinical trials of genetically engineered cellular immunotherapies (CAR-T cells) for patients with AD. malignant haemopathies.

The Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine and Health is looking for two Research assistants to aid in research related to understanding the characteristics of distinct human T cell subsets, the development of novel tumor immunotherapies, and factors regulating the immune response to cancer.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • support laboratory research design and preparation
  • provide administrative research support as needed
  • provide technical support to the research team to assist with experiments
  • participate in occasional activities.

About you

  • higher education diplomas in medical sciences, microbiology or relevant professional experience
  • previous experience in a biomedical research related environment
  • experience in human T cell immunology desirable
  • experience in T cell culture, phenotypic and functional studies of T cells. Lentiviral transduction, single cell RNA sequencing and xenogeneic models of T cell immunotherapy will be an advantage
  • strong problem-solving skills and the ability to show initiative and exercise good judgment
  • good experience with the full suite of Microsoft Office software
  • experience in conducting literary research and preparing literary reviews
