HEC and British Council to develop policy framework for research assessment – Latest News – The Nation
ISLAMABAD – The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the British Council, intends to develop and implement a policy framework for research assessment.
According to HEC, this research assessment program is called Research Excellence Framework (REF) customized for Pakistan under the Pakistan UK Education Gateway program.
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) UK is a process of expert reviews to assess the quality of research. The rationale for developing REF is to improve research productivity, develop benchmarks for quality research, and effectively communicate impact to stakeholders.
In this context, online registration is encouraged for people who intend to examine / are experienced examiners / or have worked on similar UK exercises called Research Assessment Exercise / REF.
The services of appropriate individuals may be utilized by HEC to serve as experts for the development of REF and to assist HEC in the design, delivery and evaluation of submissions made for REF.
Selected individuals may also be required to serve as panel chairs/panel experts for the review of grant applications received under different calls.
According to the eligibility criteria, the candidate can be a faculty member of public/private universities in Pakistan or any other local research and development organizations/industry, think tanks, etc.
Applications can be submitted online. Candidates are also encouraged to submit updated CVs with the online application.
Appropriate remuneration, corresponding to the approved policy, will be paid by HEC upon selection for a specific task by HEC.
